Irene Hallett: Post-surgical Recovery

Reason for Admission: Complications following angioplasty; Dialysis; Wound care following amputation of left foot

Hospital: PAM Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Westminster

To say Irene Hallett had been through a lot is almost an understatement.  She had recently undergone balloon angioplasty, had severe peripheral artery disease, was receiving dialysis, and was recovering from the amputation of her left foot.  She came to PAM Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Westminster in August of 2025 for help in reclaiming her strength and independence so she could reach her maximum potential again.

When she arrived, she was unable to bear weight on her left foot, which made dialysis a challenge, but by the time she left for home, she was closer than ever to being able to bear weight again!   She was also able to continue to receive her lifesaving dialysis while an inpatient and appreciate Cassie who administered it, calling her a “gem.”

“I truly appreciated all the people in all the departments,” Irene said.  “They were so uplifting and kind.  I had real conversations and had a lot of fun with all of them.”

She also said her “angel of a husband” appreciated all the details and education the team shared with him.

Irene said Doug in physical therapy was especially helpful in getting her to discover her capabilities.  She loved the fact they even shared the same birthday!  High fives and using equipment in the gym like the exercise bike and parallel bars made therapy more fun for her.
