In early 2025, Chris Dixon was admitted to the acute care hospital with chest pain and hypokalemia, or low potassium levels. During the course of his complex medical ordeal, Mr. Dixon learned about PAM Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Sugar Land. Once he was stable enough, he chose to come to us for an inpatient stay, confident that we could help him rebuild his strength and regain his lost independence.

Mr. Dixon arrived at PAM Health on May 20, 2025. His extended hospital stay, combined with the strain of his weight, had left him immobilized and unable to stand. He wasn’t sure if he would ever walk again, but he was eager and optimistic about working in therapy toward regaining his independence with activities of daily living and self-care. Our expert and compassionate therapists helped Mr. Dixon achieve standing independently and much more! The day he took his first steps in some time was a momentous one. During his stay, he continued on to achieve walking 20 feet, a tremendous milestone. By discharge, Mr. Dixon was down 50 pounds and eager to continue building upon his success at PAM Health.

Mr. Dixon said that everyone he encountered at PAM Health made a positive impact, but he especially appreciated Henry and Madison in therapy for helping him stand and walk again. Currently pursuing PhD in environmental toxicology, Mr. Dixon is working toward being able to drive again so he can go on trips! He is well on his way to accomplishing that goal. We were so honored to get to know your bright personality, Mr. Dixon, and we wish you the best!
