Reason for Admission: 30-foot fall from a tree  while working – multiple fractures, Workers’ Compensation injury

Length of Stay: 2.5 months

Discharge Location: Home

Hospital: PAM Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Jupiter

Pedro Perez was working at his job, 30 feet up in the air in a tree when he fell to the ground.  Fortunately, he survived but with multiple fractures. The pain in his back, left shoulder and lower extremities resulted in a decreased range of motion and intense pain. When he arrived at PAM Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Jupiter from St. Mary’s Medical Center in late August, he was feeling depressed and unmotivated.

Fortunately, the team at PAM Health helped Pedro turn around his physical and mental state. Although his back restrictions and non weight-bearing status limited his initial  progress, his therapists and nurses encouraged him to keep working hard. He knew he was turning a corner when he was able to walk again using a walker.

Goals Achieved:

  • Walking
  • Regaining movement
  • Decreasing pain
  • Going home

Pedro thanks the entire staff at PAM Health, including the nurses, physical therapists,  occupational therapists, and respiratory  therapists with helping him stay motivated and  positive and achieve his goals. He is looking  forward to continuing his progress so he can  return to work and provide for his family, who he  was eager to return to after weeks in the  hospital.

Best of luck, Pedro!
