Lawrence Bradley, 68, suffered a welding accident on January 18, 2025 that resulted in burns to his left thigh and buttock, totaling 5% body surface area. He went to the acute care hospital, where he underwent excision and split-thickness skin grafting procedures. He was discharged home, where his wound healing regressed as the skin graft was lost and a foul-smelling infection developed.
After returning to the acute care hospital for a time, Mr. Bradley came to PAM Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Beaumont in mid-February to work on regaining his mobility, which had been impacted by his injury, and continue receiving wound care. When he arrived at PAM Health, Mr. Bradley was still in pain and struggled with his loss of independence, requiring assistance for self-care tasks and ambulation. He appreciated the expert care of our wound care and nursing staff who helped him heal and manage his pain, allowing him to participate in therapy. His expert physical and occupational therapists “made working hard very fun,” Mr. Bradley said. He progressed to being able to walk independently without an assistive device from his room to the therapy gym and back, a tremendous accomplishment.

Mr. Bradley expressed gratitude for the kindness and support of our team, adding that “the people at PAM Health really know their stuff!” He looks forward to returning to work and is well on his way to doing so as his wounds continue on a healing trajectory. We are so proud of you, Mr. Bradley, and wish you all the best!
