Elizabeth June “Betty” Krickbaum went to the emergency department at a local hospital after she fell at home. She tripped onto a chair and hit her head, left shoulder, left wrist, and left hip, breaking her left wrist. Her leg was also causing her tremendous pain, leaving her unable to move it or bear any weight. Additionally, her broken wrist greatly limited her independence.
When Betty arrived at PAM Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Westminster, she needed maximum assistance for bed mobility and transfers. However, by the time she was ready to go home, she was able to walk again.
Betty credits Eva in therapy for having a tremendous impact on her recovery. “She was absolutely wonderful,” Betty said. “She is the reason I got back on my feet. She made me feel safe enough to return home. She had magic fingers that brought my muscles back to life.”
In addition, Betty said everyone from the kitchen staff to the nurses, aids, and doctors involved in her care were delightful. She specifically noted the fast response time of the team when she would push her call bell.
When she was evaluating where to go for rehabilitation, Betty chose PAM Health in part because of its proximity to her home in Brighton. She was also impressed with the reputation and how quickly admissions was able to facilitate her transfer. In fact, Betty said she had been to rehab hospitals before after her hip replacements and felt that PAM Health Westminster was the best of the bunch.
After a little more than two weeks with us, Betty was eager to return home to her husband and her sewing and quilting projects.
