Hospitalist services are available in-house 24/7 in addition to Internal Medicine Attending Physicians. Specialized Services include Pulmonary, Nephrology, General, Vascular, and Plastic Surgery, Infectious Disease, Neurology, and Wound Care, as well as Respiratory Therapy, Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy, Dietary, Pharmacy, Telemetry, Hemodialysis, and Case Management services. 

Wound Care Healing Services

Our wound care team is passionate and dedicated to healing patient wounds. They are also an integral part of the overall team approach to preventing wounds and work closely with all departments starting from the day of admission. 

After arrival to our unit the wound care team assesses each patient and collaborates with the Interdisciplinary team including the patients' physician, nursing, dietary, therapy, respiratory therapy, and pharmacy. The team provides patient and family education throughout the stay to promote ongoing healing post-discharge. 

Types of wounds commonly treated:

  • Post-surgical wounds
  • Pressure ulcers, including deep tissue injury, arterial ulcers, and venous ulcers
  • Stable burn wounds
  • Compromised muscle grafts and flap closures
  • Complex wound closures
  • Post-radiation tissue injury
  • Stable necrotizing soft tissue infections
  • Stable gangrene
  • Complex ostomies
  • Complications associated with skin and bone infections

Treatment methods may involve topical and advanced wound care products, negative pressure, bedside debridement, compression therapy, ostomy care, and education, fistula management, post flap/reconstructive care, limb salvage, and surgical wound aftercare.

  • Management of lower extremity wounds in collaboration with the Podiatry team
  • Frequent communication with wound care team, patient’s family, and referring facilities
  • Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation staff work on transfer skills, pressure management, 
  • equipment readjustment, appropriate techniques in ambulation, and activities of daily living (ADL) skills.
  • Case managers work closely with patients and family members to determine next steps to enable the continuation of recovery after leaving our care.
