Overview

Renal Condition Care
at PAM Health

Patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), acute kidney injury, or other renal conditions often require specialized care to manage symptoms, prevent complications, and improve overall health. Long-Term Acute Care Hospitals (LTACHs), Inpatient Rehabilitation Facilities (IRFs), and Outpatient Therapy each play a vital role in supporting recovery and long-term kidney health.

Specialty Care

Long-Term Acute Care Hospitals

Long-term acute care hospitals can support and treat medically complex patients who need extended hospital care with:

  • 24/7 Medical Monitoring – Manages complications like fluid imbalances, infections, and electrolyte disturbances.
  • Dialysis & Renal Support – Provides hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis for patients with severe kidney dysfunction.
  • Wound Care & Infection Management – Treats pressure injuries, surgical wounds, or infections related to kidney disease.
  • Nutritional Support & Metabolic Care – Specialized diets to manage fluid intake, electrolyte balance, and protein needs.
  • Respiratory & Cardiac Support – Addresses heart and lung complications commonly associated with kidney disease.

Renal Rehab

Inpatient
Renal Rehab

For those who need more intensive care, inpatient rehab may be the best option. This form of rehabilitation focuses on working with patients over a shorter period to maximize their recovery.

The goal is to help you return home being as independent and productive as possible.

Outpatient
Renal Rehab

Some patients prefer outpatient care, especially those whose condition does not require hospitalization. Outpatient rehabilitation allows patients to come to our hospital for a few hours of treatment during the day and return home each night.
Comprehensive outpatient therapy is also available to patients who want to maintain or enhance their recovery after inpatient rehab. Along with this, we also offer patient and family member support groups.
