Long-term acute care (LTACH)

A long-term acute care hospital (LTACH) is recommended for those who require complex medical management, therapeutic care and rehabilitation services -- 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with daily assessment of the patient by a physician.

Persons requiring long-term acute care are generally:

Admitted directly from the ICU
Medically and physically compromised with multi-system complications and/or failures that require hospitalization.
In need of extended acute care, but have the potential for recovery and may then transition home or to the next level of care.
