Hospital: PAM Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Greater Indiana North
Diagnosis: Weakness, immobility
Complications from bladder surgery last year resulted in Stephen Glenn having a blood clot in his lung, which required him to go on ECMO, which resulted in an extended hospital stay and subsequent months-long recovery journey. Mr. Glenn said he came to PAM Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Greater Indiana after trying inpatient therapy at two other locations where he felt he was not improving at all. He said he would “come out the same way he would go in.” For Mr. Glenn, he wanted to be able to go from sitting to standing and take care of some of his basic activities of daily living again as well as walk with his walker. When he first arrived at PAM Health for his first stay in December of 2025, he was unable to do any of those things. By the end, he had noticed substantial improvement.
Mr. Glenn returned to PAM Health a few weeks later in early January and began working again with physical and occupational therapy. He appreciated how they kept things interesting and paid attention to him. As Mr. Glenn noted, he found it hard at the other rehabs to put in the work when he felt like the therapists were not interested in him, which was not the case at PAM Health. He was especially happy to increase the distance he was able to walk using his rolling walker. Although he discharged back to an assisted living facility, he is hopeful he will be able to return home to his farm soon.
