After being diagnosed with lung cancer, Arlene Rust had surgery to remove a mass in her right lung. Surgeons were able to successfully remove all the cancer, but Arlene was left feeling weak with pain on her right side and right arm from the lung surgery. The social worker at the hospital where she had her surgery suggested she consider PAM Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Sugar Land for inpatient rehabilitation. She took the advice and was impressed by the fast response, friendliness, cleanliness, and positivity.
Arlene appreciated how the therapy team helped her rebuild her physical strength and confidence as well as improve her breathing. She also felt that doctors addressed both her physical and mental well-being. She recalled that on her sixth day at PAM Health, she was able to walk up 22 stairs while using the railings for support and stability. She was eager to return home so she could do simple things again like take care of herself, walk and do the stairs, drive her car, and even do laundry.
The PAM Health team wishes her success as Arlene was a positive patient who loved to encourage the other patients and make them laugh with her sense of humor and positive outlook.
