Post Acute Medical Rebuilds Confidence Among Patients, Staff By Installing Coronavirus-Killing
Filtration System

As the health care industry continues to save lives and mitigate the spread of COVID-19, Post Acute Medical (PAM) is working to protect frontline workers and patients from the current pandemic and future airborne illnesses.

Ensuring a healthy, safe environment for patients and staff to receive and administer care in our medical facilities is of the utmost concern to our organization. This has led PAM to significantly increase our level of attention to detail in sanitization and preventative care – to the point of exceeding the recommended measures to quell the spread of COVID-19.

While we’re committed to going above and beyond to secure the safety of our specialty hospitals during the pandemic, PAM is mindful of the need to continue the same mitigation efforts in the future.

As an innovative, leading health care provider, we’ve taken steps to reinforce this long-term commitment by installing Integrated Viral Protection’s (IVP) indoor biodefense system in our network of specialty hospitals.

By installing the IVP system, PAM has helped many of our employees and patients find a sense of relief regarding their concerns about contracting and spreading COVID-19. The IVP system, which can destroy 99.9% of COVID-19 particles in the air and other airborne pathogens such as the flu, pneumonia and other airborne diseases, is an investment intended to protect our communities from the current virus while preventing the spread of future illnesses.

"The safety and health of our patients and staff is our highest priority," said Nicholas Mendez, CEO at PAM Specialty Hospital of Hammond (La.). "By taking the necessary precautions and installing a new technology to prevent the spread of COVID-19, we’ve created an environment where people feel safe to receive health care again."

As PAM introduces the IVP system to more locations, we strive to secure facility safety and build confidence in new patients and staff members by educating them on its purpose. Additionally, existing sites with the system have reported staffing sufficiency as more employees are available to be on location with the extra precaution in place.

“Since installation last November, we take the time to introduce our patients and new staff to the system and explain how it’s benefiting our hospitals,” said Crystal Stautzenberger, PAM Corporate Outpatient Program Director Resource in Luling (Texas). “They continue to express how appreciative they are of the fact that Post Acute Medical is willing to go to such lengths to ensure everyone has confidence in our practices.”

The IVP system has contributed greatly to helping PAM strengthen our community relationships. All who enter and work in our hospitals now have the opportunity to learn about and engage with the system.

In Wilkes-Barre (Pa.), the IVP system is not only making a difference, but it’s also taken on its own personality, thanks to the imagination of Wilkes-Barre staff. The IVP system has been nicknamed Rosie, a nod to the robotic housekeeper in the cartoon series The Jetsons.

“We’re following all CDC guidelines, the state department health guidelines, we have the appropriate PPE, we restrict out visitation, social distancing. But this [Rosie] is another weapon for us,” said David Long, CEO at PAM Specialty Hospital of Wilkes-Barre.
